The 2025 Special Convention - Scotland, UK
Our dear friends were invited to apply for this year’s Special Convention series but since they have never traveled internationally, they were a bit hesitant to go alone. And as you all know, they didn’t have to twist arms to get us to join their group. Plans came together quickly and here we go!
Scotland is one of 19 Special Conventions being held around the world this year. Some other locations that my friends have enjoyed are Albania, Belgium, Croatia, Bolivia - and we have friends who are getting ready for Togo, Sri Lanki, New Zealand and many others. Joining us in Scotland, there will be an estimated 3,000 delegates from countries like Canada, Hungary, Korea, Poland, Scandinavia, Slovenia, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, and of course, the US. And I learned from some of my Scottish friends that all of the 9,763 publishers in the 113 congregations here in Scotland were also invited to this year’s event. Unfortunately, some dear friends from other parts of the UK cannot attend.
In addition to the 3-day convention, we have a jammed packed itinerary! We will meet with the local friends at one of the 83 Kingdom Halls to enjoy the field ministry inviting even more people from the territory to join this special event. And we will do a cruise on one of the famous lochs (no Loch Ness monsters here). And then a walking tour and evening gathering where I’m sure there will be lots of singing and dancing.
To get ready, we ordered some fabric in the tartan pattern designed especially for this year’s convention. My fabric doesn’t look nearly as vibrant as the picture below, but it was fun breaking out the old sewing machine again after a long hiatus. Stay tuned to see if you can spot the items I made this week.
