Travel Shenanigans Guaranteed - Part I
So, on every McCloud adventure, there is bound to be some shenanigans. Here are a few of our blunders over the first couple of days:
Our travel companions are first timers. They were so excited about all the activities but a little uncertain given the weather here was forecasted to be very different than what we are currently experiencing in the Eastern US. So, my dear sister packed for EVERY type of weather. She's got 10+ pairs of shoes - everything from flip flops to fur lined rain boots. At least we wear the same size shoes so I might get to wear a pair to one of the events.

Every evening we have had amazing dinner experiences. Thus, it was bound to take a turn. We decided on the Spanish Butcher last night and made haste to get there. Couldn't believe how busy the restaurants are on what seems like a regular Thursday night. Since Stacy had reviewed the menu on Google, he deemed it would fit with our tastes and preferences.
When we arrived at the Spanish Butcher, the host was so kind to quickly set up a table for us even though we did not have a reservation. They even offered to take our jackets so we could be comfortable for dinner. And then with quick review of the menu we knew this was not going to work for us. We are a seafood crew and the waitress started expounding on the virtues of their $100+ steaks.
When asked about seafood options (of which we saw very few on the menu), they somewhat tactfully reminded us that we were at THE SPANISH BUTCHER. To which we said "ohhh." After a few awkward moments of the host trying to convince us that this was the best that we would be able to get, we made a hasty exit when we were able to wrestle our jackets back.
Then we went back to the first restaurant that we couldn't get in the night before. Fortunately, Casey was able to get us in directly. Unfortunately, it turned out Casey was not only the manager, but he was also the host, the waiter, and the busboy. Despite the 1-man operation, we had excellent service, but the guys noticed that Casey looked like Chris Farley from Saturday Night Live. Mainly because he was wearing a blazer that was a wee bit too snug and the front button was screaming for release.

When we returned to our hotel after our Lake cruise, we ran into these cheerful runners. They have been married for 47 years and were so happy to do whatever they could to make sure we were well cared for.
We encouraged our runners John & Sylvia to keep up the pace.
